I was informed this morning that my email account must have been hacked because my contacts had received an email with a link. I have received emails like this before but never clicked the link, just deleted them. My friends old account was hacked, but she never used it. She tried deleting her account and it wouldn’t let her. But she was still able to log in.

Anyway, I was still able to log into my account. All my information was the same and didn’t appear to be changed. I chose a new password and a new security question, sent out a mass email to my contacts warning them my account had been hacked and to not open the link, and deleted all but 2 contacts from my list (my address, and my husbands) to see if that would stop the spam. I checked in my sent box to see if I was able to find the messages, but found nothing other than previous emails that I had sent earlier in the week. There were no messages in my deleted box either. Was changing my password enough to prevent the spam from being sent from my email? And also, how could this have happened? I’m on a secure network, and originally had a very strong password with a capital letter and a symbol. I’ve changed all important account passwords, just in case. But I still can’t relax. I have e mails in this account that I need to keep like my financial aid information, I don’t feel safe leaving that information in my email, even though it requires a password and a pin number and a SSN number to access it. I’m freaking out. =( I can only think of two ways that this could have happened.

1.) My husband and I were out of town for a few days and staying at a casino hotel. We paid for internet, and it said it was on an unsecured network, but we used it anyway. (We have Norton Security Suite) And I believe I accessed my e-mail once for a short amount of time while we were there.
Or, 2.) My husband often times leaves important windows open, which I usually ignore and just open another window. I logged into my hotmail account for 5 minutes after not being on it in a few days. The window my husband was on was a google search, I didn’t think much of it. Turns out he was on a few “questionable” websites before the google search that have a lot of spam and ads on it and he didn’t run our cleaner (Piriform CCleaner) but I didn’t think it mattered.

Could any of these have caused my account to be hacked? And is this enough to prevent the hacker from logging into my account again (Just changing my password and security question?)? We did a thorough scan on our computer as well, and it didn’t detect any viruses or spy-ware or anything.
I use Norton. I ran a thorough scan of my computer that took a while to run. It didn’t detect anything. I know that CCleaner is not a virus protector.

Your e-mail account has not been hacked…your computer has either a trojan or worm that is sending SPAM to all your contacts…this issue with e-mail started about a year ago….no need to change your ID…but you can change the password if you want to…but its not necessary….download and scan with these 2 free popular products….it will detect and remove the infections…..

You must be on drugs to think that you will profit from on-line casinos.

They will never cancel your account. You will continue to give them money as long as you’d like.

If you’ve been lucky enough to actually win money, that’s all you’ve been – lucky. You WILL lose. You have NOT figured out some secret method to beat these casinos. They WILL take your money eventually.

If you actually have won some money, I’d strongly suggest trying to withdraw it now while you can.

Depends on the situation, and the reason they refused to pay. I’ve never heard of any of the major sites doing this, so I guess you are just dealing with a shady site.

i placed a 0 wager online for a team to win the championship, and the payout is ,000 if they win it all. it might be unlikely, but if i do win will the large deposit draw the attention of the irs? it’s an offshore online sportsbook. if so, what are some suggestions to receive the funds without drawing attention? i know it’s illegal to wager online, same as those who download mp3′s..
that is true, i could’ve done something more worthwhile with the money i used to wager, but it was with money that i’ve already won. the money used to win with the money won in the first place was with fun and recreation money, much like the ipods and mp3 players bought by those who download thousands of illegal music. btw i don’t do that either =P

You won’t be audited neccesarily but you will need to report your winnings at the end of the year and pay taxes. Your bank must report the deposit (i think they report anything over 9, I might be wrong about that dollar amount but I think that’s it.).

I just funded my account via western union (which was actually really easy, just called w.u. (800-call-cash) and they took the transaction from my bank account (via my debit card) gave me a control number, i called my sportsbook and gave them the # and my money was in my account in 10 minutes. Sometimes I like to play online casino games and I want to create new account, because I forgot key for my previous account, and I deleted that email with password in it. And When I click on “Sign up for the new account” there is written that there excists account on this computer.
I searched through internet and read some where that I can’t create new account because of some file, that is installed some where in my registry. And If I could find it and delete, I’ll be able to create new account. So please , can you tell me the name of the file, and where I should look for it.

This is when those extra email sites provided by your ISP. I have five with my clearwire acct and two have been set for poker site at one point. I now only play at full tilt and have enough play chips to last for quite awhile. Are you using the same address to sign-up for this new account. If so change the address and it should allow you to play. Also all sites have a “lost password” section so try that as well.
