Now that neteller is down and not processing any withdrawals to US customers, my only way to withdraw from my gambling site is for them to send me a check. Will there be any problems with depositing this check into my bank account?
Should I take my check to 1 of those “check cashing” places so I can get my $$ immediately? Is there any recourse for these check cashing places if they can not cash my check?
Which banks (if any) has anyone had success with in depositing one of these checks? 1 came in today via fed ex so I need to cash it somewhere…any help is appreciated!!!

There shouldn’t be any problems. Unless the government has some way of blocking the check, but it should definitely be ok from the sportsbooks side. I’ve deposited checks from sportsbooks before but that was before all this new BS started. think as long as there are no legal issues between the book and the US then everything will go smoothly

For me, I’ve finally hit rock bottom. I know I have a problem. I had to borrow half of my rent from my friends just to get the bills paid last month, thankfully I’ve paid them back now. However, I still owe different creditors a total of 0. All I can think about is how easily I could win this back.

I’ve been gambling on a consitant basis for about 3 years now but I never have borrowed money to play like I have been lately doing. I recently confronted my family about this problem and they are being very supportive, but this is an ongoing process. There are no gambler’s annonymous groups within 2 hours of where I live, as all my gambling has been done on the internet.

Does anyone on here struggle with this same thing, or does anyone have some words of advice for me? I am tired of constantly being broke and ignoring my friends so I can gamble. I’m really on my last limb here.

Okay, so gambling winnings must be declared as taxable income for federal and state taxes.

What happens if you happen to win a big prize on the exact same day you move from one state to another? Which of the 2 states do you pay state income tax to? Are you stuck paying to both states?

State A you lived in the first 5 months out of the year. State B you lived in the remaining 7 months.

Again, the taxable income (value of the winnings) was incurred on the exact day you moved from State A to State B.
Edit – more accurate time would be to say that we lived in State A for first 4 1/2 months of the year, and State B for the remaining 7 1/2 months of the year.
Saying that is unlikely to happen does me no good because this actually DID happen to me.

The money was won in State B. But State A is sending a tax bill to me 2 years later saying that we owe them a substantial amount of money for that prize. (The IRS and State B have already been paid.)

I understand every aspect of the sports gambling except the point spread. I understand it has something to do with the margin a team must win by in order for you to win the bet.
