will us congress ever legalize online gambling? why or why not?

Question by : will us congress ever legalize online gambling? why or why not?
I really want to know this. Fantasy football is considered as gambling( i’m looking at you yahoo sponsoring FF) yet online poker isn’t allowed???

Answer by Elliot
It’s already happening, whether Congress wants to address it or not. People smoke marijuana every day and get away with it.

There were bills introduced this session ,but they did not make it out of committee

fantasy football is too small to be considered real gambling. poker on the net is hard to tax, thats why

  5. depends if there are lobbyists arguing for it, and how much they are willing to pay to grease the palms of the senate

If money doesn’t change hands over the internet, it isn’t online gambling. Fantasy Football is not online gambling because Yahoo or whomever doesn’t run it as gambling. If your buddies want to charge people to play and have a payout for the winner that has nothing to do with the supplier of the Fantasy Football layout.

  7. Because that would piss off lots of Asians.

Online poker IS legal and has been for years…the only thing the Federal law a couple of years ago banned was electronic fund transfers between US banks and poker sites – and that was more to combat money laundering than online gambling.
